I wonder if a boxer feels the way I feel right now. I have had my notes done since Thursday or at least 90% done. It is a topic I feel like needs to be talked about and although my experience level in the area is low my spiritual authority as the leader of the church warrants me to share from Gods word about this area. I am learning a lot personally about how to parent and am in the beginning stages of laying down the rules for little O. She is beginning to understand what NO means and what don't touch means. So we are giving her boundaries so she doesn't grow up to be a spoiled and out of control adult.
Right now I am about to re look at my notes... The ending needs work... the beginning needs refinement... I watched myself this week on video and am frustrated that I do some fo the things I do... Little things. Timing things and rabbit trails that at the time I think are valuable and Worth saying but I realize more is not better or retained. I am working to get to at most a 30 min. message. That means less than 5 pages of notes. I am at about five but need to be at about 4 pages. That is hard to do because there is a lot of good stuff to throw away.
So I am nervous. Praying for my neighbors... Wondering if this message will change someones life... Isnt that the point? I am a little agitated... I hope I sleep tonight... thinking about the visitors that will hear this and praying that they see Gods love in it.
I feel like I am preparing mentally to fight... to bob and weave... thinking about delivery and timing... processing the whole event and trying to run through how it will feel and look and be tomorrow. Saturday's are a big work day for me... most of the work happens inside of me... The lump in my throat proves that.
In a way I am going into battle tomarrow. The enemy doesnt want strong families. Each person who helps HPC with its mission is in a fight. We are going to win tomarrow! Get some rest and be prepared I feel a KO brewing.
I love music! Always have... when we started HPC we looked high and low for a rock'n Musician... We wanted a great worship leader who felt called to the local church and had a pastors heart. We Nailed it when we found Courtney or as she would put it she found us.
Pastor Courtney is more than worship leader... She is a leader of Worship leaders. That is a mark of a great leader. She doesn't need to be the one hogging the mike or making a name for herself... She sees the infinite value in recruiting, raising up and giving people opportunities to lead.
I meet people all the time who say... "If you need a worship leader to come lead let me know." Thats cool... I like to ask where they are currently plugged in. A lot of musicians float... they don't stay plugged in... they think that there called to make albums and be big names...
Your music talents should be first used in your local church. Let who you are flow out of the place you are planted. Find a leader of leaders to release you to lead people into worship and let your music flow from that. If you have songs about your girl... write them. If you have songs about your dog sign it out... But let your talents and abilities be honed by your outflow of worship to the lord and your leading of the people.
We have an amazing group of leaders at HPC... Dave, Kyle, Courtney, Orion, Mandi, Dustin... and then we have the back up leaders... WOW! our band is stacked... people who have played their instrument for years... Others who graduated with a degree in their instrument... God has blessed us...
The best part about our team and the volume of awesome musicians is that we are going to be a church that produces great worship and sends out awesome musicians to lead the church into worship and to effect the world with it. As we pray about our next steps and as we help people live their potential I am confident we will have more musicians come in and grow up in the HPC house. I am also confident that we will send out worship leaders that make n impact. Some will be big others will just make a big impact. We will send people out to help church plants, send people out to lead stadiums and we Have an Awesome House Band!

It is all about movement. I pray no one is the same after being apart of High Point. last sunday we had a crazy number of guests. Some who had not been apart of church others who had not been apart of a life giving community like we are. I pray they went away changed. Thinking about there next step.
Our greeters... worship... kids volunteers... hospitality and you all help people with their movement.
The greatest part of movement is the connection one with another. I am so excited that connection groups are coming! It is a place to get to know others, share life and challenge one another to live your potential!
The point is not Religion... Church... Ego... The Point is Life transformation... The Point is Jesus and him Crucified... The Point is That we all have a potential for our families our lives and our work... an ideal that God wants for you...

This week I am a student/teacher. i am studying for our final week of Parental Guidance required. This week is on Discipline. I am a father of 9 months. I have not spent years in the discipline trench honing my skills. But I am a studant. I study, read, pray search the scriptures and others thoughts. I also take not e of those who have what I want. I want O to grow up mentally strong, love the Lord and understand how to have self discipline.
I don't have all the answers but I do have some very helpful material. I trust the Lord to speak to me about what to share with you on Sunday. I know that if we take these principles to heart we can raise up great kids!
Off to take Olivia to her 9-month checkup! i'll update you on her greatness later...
We are raising up a blessed generation! They have more at there fingertips than any previous generation. They will not even know what the encyclopedia Britannica is or was because everything they want to know is found in the palm of there hand. They eat the most nutritious foods. Have the most access to travel and culture.
It is our responsibility to take their raising as apart of our God given mission. Jesus commissioned us all to go and make disciple... Our children our the greatest disciples we will make. It is my prayer that we have a Group of Young people that are so inspired by our passionate embrace of our God. It starts with me and you... They want to see how we live... make decisions... handle stress.
We are to shape them and pray for them and challenge them to go and be the great men and woman that God has created them for. Each one of them has a plan and purpose many of our generation has found emptiness and turmoil because they are not living in the mission and plan that they were designed for but our kids can be different. Take time to help them discover there High Point and live their Potential with gusto! Bless them! Pray for them! UNLEASH THEM INTO THE WILD OF OUR WORLD ON TARGET!
