GOING GREEN PT2
What a weekend!
I had a little bit of a hard time getting this ready. Olivia still wasn't 100% and since she had been sleeping through the night for so long now to have her up for an hour or two for days in a row... WOW! it was hard to concentrate. I felt like the Lord directed my steps and what came out felt GOOD. This week should be better.
Going Green is something I am excited about and something that I am surprised how few people actually talk about in the church world. I want to be clear that I am not endorsing a way of thought or a theory other than what I am seeing in the bible and hope that is clear. All Gore maybe convincing but I do not want to get into the politics or the theory of what may or may not be happening... Here is what I do know and what I am going to talk about.
The Earth is amazingly resilient. We can throw a lot at this planet and she just keeps on trucking. She is like a car I once had. I drove that thing into the ground. Betsy (that was my cars name) just kept on going. Think about it. Many of us don't think about what we consume and buy and then discard and what that does to our world. I am going to talk a little bit about plastic bottles this week. It should be a good week to think about what we don't need to consume... But what does the bible say you might ask? Well come Sunday and I will share with you that the bible in many ways points to a "less is more" principle.
Maybe we can touch the world for the Glory of God by using less. It should be a good week again.
Sunday Thoughts:
- Band was Hot Again... the keyboardist is making that thing do what it was designed to do!
- They EQed the sound and man did it hit the mark!
- So far the media rotation is going pretty smoothly. I am learning to make sure I don't change that much on Sunday morning
- Set up and Kids could use more help! If interested cal the office 651.204.0509 or email Elizabeth@myhighpointchurch.com
- I thought the recycling went well... I like having water there for people and I think the little bottle is nice for people with Kids. But it has always bothered me we didn't recycle... until Sunday! WE ARE SO GREEN ITS LIKE WE USE CHEMLAWN... wait... that may not be GREEN...
- I love seeing families come back and connect. We seem to be in our best season I think so far of connectivity... I feel like our stick factor IS HUGE! So keep making connections and stepping out of your group of regulars into making new friends and meeting new faces.
- We had our best giving month to date... I am so excited about where we are going as a church.
- we are planning more outreach to the community
- we are creating more infrastructure and strengthening our administrative side in order to do more.
- I feel Like God is making a wide and strong foundation. This is the hardest part of building because if you have ever seen a building go up... there is a lot of dirt pushing and digging and cement poring before anything exciting goes up... We are having exciting things happen and I feel are still in our dirt pushing faze... Man that gets me fired up about our next few year! O the places we will go!
- We had an intense but fabulous planning meeting... The next few series are going to be HOT! OFF The Chain! Bad (in a good way)! ROCK SOLID! AND EVEN REALLY GOOD!
- We are going to do a Parenting series for the first time! Now that I am a dad I have to study how to parent so that should be a great series..
This next season Of High Point is going to be Great!
Hey dude... Andy Stanley has the best parenting series I have ever seen called "Parental Guidance Required". It is so practical and the ideas that he throws out in the first talk set up the whole series so well. You should check it out. You can find it at Northpoint.org.
I am so glad that things are going well for you guys. Well... child number 3 comes in about 5-6 weeks. Pray for my energy level... LOL.

I love the going green series...many of these things have been on my heart for a while. We have been recycling for some time now, but I always wonder...what more can we be doing?
